Here's why the wait: they have to finish their free trial and convert to a paid subscriber, and then stay subscribed for 30 days. That's the qualifying part. We add a couple weeks on top to confirm everything's clean before the money goes out. If they cancel or you cancel inside that first 30 days, the reward doesn't pay out.

Taxes, honestly. Once we pay someone $2,000 or more in a year, we're required to issue a 1099. The $1,500 cap keeps this simple for you and for us.

It's a shared ceiling across both monthly and annual referrals, and it resets January 1. If you hit it mid-year, your link keeps working and your friends still get their discount, you just stop earning until the year rolls over.

You need to be an active paid Dollarwise subscriber and a U.S. resident. If your subscription lapses, pending rewards go away and future referrals won't count. Though anyone you already referred keeps their discount.

A few other rules worth knowing:

• The person you refer has to sign up with an email that's never been used for a Dollarwise account.

• One reward per payment method.

• Approved Dollarwise affiliates aren't eligible for the referral program. You're in one or the other, not both.

• We monitor for fraud. If something looks off, your link gets paused while we review it and we'll email you about it.
